I've seen and touched the oldest tree in the world during our trip to Bishop, CA two weeks ago:
This Bristlecone Pine tree is taken in Great Basin in White Mountains of the Inyo National Forest
Bristlecone Pine tree (Pinus longaeva) is one of the member of pine family and considered as the oldest living creature that thrive the earth. Bristlecone Pine is easily identified from the other Pine trees because its needles are arranged all along its branches like a cat or fox tail. They thrive in the lighter-colored dolomite soil. This kind of soil is very alkaline in soil chemistry, thus makes for a very challenging growing conditions. This Bristlecone Pine can be found in Eastern California, high mountain regions of Nevada and to a lesser extent in Utah.
